Issues
Equity
Our diversity of opinion and abilities is what makes Dane County such a special place. We need to encourage new and different ways of thinking and bring in new and different voices to move our community forward.
Regenerative Communities
A regenerative economy is one that operates in harmony, restoring and replenishing the resources we use. It is also an economy that is socially just, creating opportunities for everyone to thrive.
Transparency
Everyone has a right to know what their government is doing in their name. I believe in open-records and transparency in the decision-making process.
Art and Entrepreneurship
Dane County is the fastest growing region in the state of Wisconsin. We are one of the most diverse counties in the state. We need creative solutions to bring together all of the stakeholders to solve new problems.
Who am I?
Bio
My name is Jeff. I am a lawyer, professor, and entrepreneur. I have lived in Madison since 2007. I decided to run for office for a simple reason: I believe it is important to be an active and engaged citizen of the community. If I want my community to be better, I need to be an agent of change and do something about it.
Here are some examples of how I have been active in my community.
I on the Board and committees of the Madison Public Market and worked to get the Market started, including working working with the City’s Public Market Development Committee and the Market Ready companies. I started Madison Craft Beer Week in 2011 and ran it until 2015; I founded Madison Beer Review in 2007 and ran it until 2012. I was an organizer of Startup Weekend Madison. I am on the Board of Directors of the Platteville Farmer’s Market. I was on the Board of the Dunn’s Marsh Neighborhood Association for 5 years and its President for 2 years; I sat on the Allied Drive Taskforce; I was also on the Board of Directors for the Allied Wellness Center. I am past President of the Friends of the Arboretum for the UW-Madison Arboretum.
I have a wife, 3 kids, a dog, and two cats. I like reading, board games, camping, and hiking. I am terrible at guitar and am slightly better at spinning yarn.
